Terms of Service

Last updated 17 September 2026

Kobo adds up what you tell it. It is a record keeper, not an accountant, and the numbers it shows you are only as good as what you logged. Use it for your own business, keep your sign-in to yourself, and we will keep it running as well as we can.

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and Aregheviogaga Akporaro, based in Nigeria, who builds and operates Kobo. They apply to the Kobo iPhone app and to this website. By creating an account or using Kobo, you accept them.

How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Kobo. You must be at least 16, and you must give an email address you can actually receive mail at, because it is how we reach you and how you recover access.

An account is for one business. Keep your password and your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us at aareghe@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into it.

3. What Kobo is, and what it is not

Kobo records money in and money out and subtracts one from the other. That is the whole of it.

It is not accounting software, a bookkeeping service, or a substitute for the records your tax authority requires. Nothing in Kobo is accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and we are not licensed to give any of those. If a number in Kobo is going to decide something important, check it against your own records first.

Kobo does not move money. It has no connection to your bank and it cannot send, receive or hold funds.

The figures Kobo shows are arithmetic over the entries you typed. If an entry is missing, duplicated or wrong, the profit figure will be wrong in the same way, and that is your responsibility rather than ours.

4. Your content stays yours

Your entries, your business details, your logo and the receipts you generate belong to you. We claim no ownership of any of it.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, to show it back to you on your devices, and to render it into the receipts and statements you ask Kobo to produce. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for having the right to use anything you upload, your logo in particular.

5. Free and Pro

Free covers the whole product. Unlimited entries, unlimited history, the full profit dashboard and all insights, free forever. We do not cap what you can put into Kobo, and we do not intend to start: a record of your money is worth less the moment it has gaps in it.

On the free plan, receipts are limited to a set number each month, currently three, and each one carries a small "Made with Kobo" mark.

Kobo Pro costs ₦1,500 a month, or ₦15,000 a year. The yearly price works out at two months free. Pro lifts the receipt limit, removes the "Made with Kobo" mark, and unlocks exporting any period as a statement. Everything the free plan does stays exactly as it is.

Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase, which means Apple takes the payment, and we never see your card details. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before it ends. You cancel, and you ask for a refund, through your Apple ID rather than through us, and refunds are at Apple's discretion under their own policy. If a payment fails or you cancel, your account returns to the free plan at the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing you have logged is ever deleted or locked away because you stopped paying.

Prices are in Nigerian naira. What Apple charges you in another currency is set by their price tiers and may differ.

We may change what each plan includes, and what it costs. If you are paying at the time, we will tell you before a change takes effect and you will be able to cancel.

6. Using Kobo properly

Do not use Kobo to break the law, to record or support fraudulent activity, or to produce receipts for transactions that did not happen. Do not try to break into other people's accounts, get around the limits on your plan, or attack, overload or reverse engineer the service.

Do not resell Kobo or present it as your own product.

7. Availability

We try to keep Kobo up and working, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable, never lose a request or never contain a bug. We may change features, and we may stop offering the service, in which case we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.

Kobo is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it.

8. Where our liability ends

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, lost data or any indirect loss arising from your use of Kobo, including a decision you took on the basis of a figure it showed you.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ten thousand naira.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for fraud.

9. Ending it

You can stop using Kobo whenever you like, and you can delete your account from Settings. Deleting it removes your entries, your profile and your receipts permanently, and we cannot get them back afterwards.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 6, or that we are required to close by law. Except where that would defeat the point, we will tell you why.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always says when. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use Kobo after that is how you accept it. If you do not accept it, delete your account.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away rights your local law gives you.
